Introducing the "Licence to Freedom", my online feature surrounding the Graduated Driver's Licence debate. As a part of my final year of studying journalism, I will be producing a feature to voice both sides of the story to explore the difference between independence and freedom. Speaking to learner drivers, newly qualified young drivers, as well as those who have lost loved ones. To understand the daily impact driving has on their lives.

Welcome to my online feature, Licence to Freedom. My name is Charlotte, the face behind the words. I am in my third year studying multi-media journalism at Bournemouth University. I am thrilled to announce my latest project, exploring the debate around independence and tragedy when it comes to the Graduate Driver's Licence scheme.
This has allowed me to share stories of those voices who are crucial campaigners for the scheme, as well as listen to younger drivers who want to voice their opinions around their freedom.
I decided to explore this debate, as looking back at when I was 18, having just passed my test, I loved the freedom of being able to drive to work by myself and pick up my friends. Enjoying the luxury of being able to get from A-Z, I never truly understood the risks facing myself and my peers.
Licence to Freedom has opened my eyes to the risks many young drivers face. With one in five drivers crashing within a year of passing their test, I questioned the responsibility given to younger drivers.
I wanted to thank my interviewees who have been brave enough to discuss their personal grief and opinions on the scheme. Keep your eyes peeled for everything GDL related, as I update you on what's going on in the road safety development.
